Can the Malta Environment and Planning Authority explain why excavation works in Triq Forrest covered by PA/1949/07 are still ongoing? This is being done despite the fact that these works should have been suspended according to what is stated in ‘Break Time’ found on the Mepa website ( http://www.mepa.org.mt/info-breaktime ) which states that:

“The Malta Environment and Planning Authority, the Malta Tourism Authority and Ministry for Sustainable Development, the Environment and Climate change notifies your council that in order to mitigate the nuisance of construction sites during the summer period (between June 15 and the September 30, 2013), no demolition or excavation works will be allowed to be carried out in the localities and streets listed.”

Besides breaking the law, these works, which started on April 23, are not only a nuisance to the residents surrounding the site but it is shameful on the developers and contractors to work from early in the morning to late in the evening without any respite whatsoever.

These works are putting extra stress and have become unbearable on all residents, especially young children.

It is the onus of the authorities concerned that these works are suspended immediately to show that regulations are not something that are found on websites but they are there also to protect all concerned.
