Hot on the heels of the Juke Nismo’s launch, Nissan has announced full details for the next Nismo car in its European line-up: the 370Z Nismo.
With an extra 16bhp and a whisker of extra torque, the 370Z Nismo is billed as ‘the ultimate Z’. Built as a coupe only and with a six-speed manual gearbox, a lot has gone on under the skin to make sure that the Nismo version of one of Nissan’s flagship cars lives up to every claim.
It will have a unique state of tune and chassis set-up to better suit European roads and driving tastes. Producing 339bhp and 274lb.ft from its 3.7-litre V6, it will reach 62mph (100kph) from a standing start in 5.2 seconds on the way to a top speed high enough for almost anybody’s tastes.
Using Nismo’s extensive racing experience, the bodywork changes on this range-topping 370Z have been made purely for aerodynamic reasons, with the front end now creating zero lift for more stable high-speed cornering.
Its Nismo identity is defined at a glance by Nismo red pinstripe lines at the front, the rear and on the door mirrors. Unique dark grey Nismo superlight 19-inch forged alloy wheels with red brake calipers and wider high-performance tyres are also fitted. At the rear, a smart new spoiler adds the finishing visual touch while also improving aerodynamic performance.
The cabin design is now more driver-focused than ever. The steering wheel is finished in Alcantara and leather, with a red race-inspired ‘top dead centre’ marker, as seen on the Juke Nismo.
The sports seats are fully electric with special Nismo badging and red stitching. The finishing touch is a numbered Nismo plate bolted to the centre console.
Nissan claims that performance, braking and high-speed stability were all priorities in the Nismo variant’s development. To aid its braking, the high-performance brake lines and fluid were taken from the ballistic GT-R. A Nismo exhaust boosts the aural charm factor for bigger grins than ever.
Prices are yet to be confirmed, but are expected to be announced at the car’s unveiling at the Geneva Motor Show next month.
