I refer to the article ‘Daughter appeal to fly father’s body home’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, August 2).

May I point out that the sentence “He passed away on July 23 but the family was only informed last Tuesday” may suggest that those responsible did not act immediately on the reported death of Mr Attard.

This was not the case, as the authorities concerned immediately embarked to locate the immediate next of kin. It should be highlighted that such delicate matters are regulated by a code of ethics which bind the authorities not to divulge any information to anyone except the next of kin.
