Passenger movements at Malta International Airport reached an all-time high with 445,232 travellers passing through last month.

Following the 1.6 per cent growth reported for the first half of 2012, the figure rose by 7.1 per cent over July of last year.

The previous record for any one month was achieved in August 2010, with 427,924 passengers, the airport said.

Visitors from Italy, France and Spain showed an increase of 10.2 per cent, 9.7 per cent and 3.5 per cent respectively. The largest market, the UK, had a 2.4 per cent rise.
