Magistrate Edwina Grima (above right) will become a judge and lawyer Joanne Vella Cuschieri (left) will be appointed a magistrate after their nominations were app­roved by Cabinet yesterday.

Dr Grima, 44, became a lawyer in 1993 and later studied Canon Law. She worked as a lawyer, specialising in civil and marriage law, between 1993 and 2007, and became a magistrate in January 2007. Dr Grima is married and has three children.

Dr Vella Cuschieri, 37, became a lawyer in 2001 and later graduated in European Law.

She served as a legal consultant to the General Workers’ Union as well as the Union of Technical and Clerical Staff within the Malta Environment and Planning Authority.
