The Malta Institute of Accountants recently held its annual general meeting at the Tower Training Centre in Swatar where it elected a new council.

Two-hundred-and-twenty-four members of the institute, whose membership now numbers over 1,700, attended the meeting.

The following were elected members of the council for the two-year period 2011/2012 and 2012/2013: Franco Azzopardi, Etienne BorgCardona, Simon Flynn, Kevin Mahoney, Maria Micallef, William Spiteri Bailey and Anthony Zarb.

They join the following, elected at the previous year’s annual general meeting: Anthony Doublet, Mario Galea, Hilary Galea-Lauri, Frederick Mifsud Bonnici, Stephen Paris, Bernard Scicluna and Franz Wirth.

At a subsequent meeting of the council Anthony Doublet was elected president, Maria Micallef vice-president, Franco Azzopardi honorary secretary and WilliamSpiteri Bailey honorary treasurer.
