Mario Mallia was recently elected chairman of the Malta Bankers’ Association.
Mr Mallia, who is CEO at Bank of Valletta plc, acknowledged the significance of the MBA’s valid contribution within the local financial services community, and said he looked forward to further enhancing the association’s role and standing during his term as chairman.
“All the 28 banks currently operating in Malta are members of the MBA, which can therefore call itself as the voice of the banking industry in Malta,” said Mr Mallia.
This voice is also carried by the MBA in European fora through its full membership of the European Banking Federation, which incorporates 32 national banking associations representing 4,500 banks with 2.5 million employees.
In his capacity as MBA chairman, Mr Mallia will also be representing the association on the board of the European Banking Federation.
