Aġenzija Apoġġ is looking for volunteers to help it support children and vulnerable families who contact the Foundation for Social Welfare Services.
The agency is recruiting volunteers for its supportline 179 and Programm Ulied Darna that provides friendship and practical help like budgeting skills, housekeeping and childcare skills, assisting children with their homework, and accompanying parents to appointments.
The supportline is a 24-hour service that deals with a wide range of issues including domestic violence, child abuse, suicidal tendencies, loneliness, emotional difficulties, behavioural problems, substance abuse and gambling.
At the moment there are 80 volunteers led by a team of professionals that are providing support through this service, but the agency needs more volunteers during weekends, public holidays and morning and evening shifts.
Those interested in joining the team of volunteers can log on www.appogg.gov.mt for more information, or call 2295 9000 during office hours.
