Years ago, before Mgr Charles Scicluna’s priestly ordination, he spent some months on the shop floor at the machine shop of Malta Drydocks sharing the experience of manual work.
I can still remember his sense of humour when some of my colleagues tried hard to trip him up on some moral subject or other. He already possessed the intelligence and shrewdness to answer all their questions satisfactorily and preserve their collective friendship. If I am correct, he became a lawyer before he became a priest.
One Christmas, he presented every one of us with a little statue of Baby Jesus.
I want to congratulate Mgr Scicluna on his consecration as auxiliary bishop and wish him success in his work with the Archbishop for the glory of God.
