A new audio guide to Ireland app aiming to shed light on some of the most beautiful and dynamic parts of the Emerald Isle was launched this month.

The My Irish Guide Mobile Audio Tour App can be downloaded free of charge by iPhone, iPod, iPad and Android users, with each audio guide then costing €2.99.

“I wanted to create an app that was tailored to the modern traveller,” explained My Irish Guide founding director Stephen Place, who was a professional tour guide for eight years.

“It is fresh and friendly and will certainly capture the hearts and minds of users as they delve deeper into the very best of what’s on offer in Ireland.”

A variety of audio guides are available, from walking tours in the capital to stunning scenic drives around a country that is popular with Maltese tourists.

“When I was coming up with the content I put myself in visitors’ shoes and dug deep into what I would like to do and see if I were visiting Ireland,” Mr Place said.

Key features include uniquely customised routes, narration by a national tour guide, a route map for each audio tour and photos of the points of interest, which are displayed on screen while commentary is playing.

Plus there are helpful tips on the best places to visit, eat, drink and enjoy the world-famous Irish craic.

The audio tours are sold as in-app purchases and include: The Dublin Craic Tour (walking tour of Dublin City); The Garden Route (Wicklow); Into the West (Mayo and Galway); Atlantic Drive (Galway and Clare); Slea Head Drive (Dingle Peninsula, Kerry); and the Ring of Kerry (Iveragh Peninsula).

“For most people this will provide the chance to experience Ireland like never before – unearthing undiscovered gems, interacting with charming locals and really delving into the intricacies of what makes Ireland so special,” Mr Place said.
