Six radiographers and two radiologists applied to attend a new part-time University course that will allow them to carry out vascular ultrasounds.

This type of ultrasound helps diagnosed arterial diseases, among others, and was necessary given that the incidence of diabetes was on the increase, explained consultant surgeon Kevin Cassar. The part-time course is being organised by the University of Malta in collaboration with the Health Department.

Health Minister Joe Cassar announced the course when he visited a new mould room at Mater Dei Hospital.

The room serves as a workshop where personalised moulds are made for patients undergoing treatment, such as radiotherapy, that requires them to remain still.
