The Dingli Girl Guides walked into their new headquarters yesterday as they celebrated their 15th anniversary.

Called ‘Believe and achieve’, the new headquarters were opened by Transport Minister Joe Mizzi and EU Funds Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg following Mass at the Dingli parish church and a parade along the main roads of the village.

The Dingli Girl Guides was founded by Rita Schembri who worked with the Malta Girl Guides.

Over the years, the group grew from strength to strength and now boasts of being one of the strongest groups on the island.

“As adult girl guides we keep volunteering because we gain experience and training. It is fun and we make new friends. Guiding gives us a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that our non-formal educational programme is making a difference in the life of many girls and young women,” said Joyce Schembri, an adult leader of the group.
