Parliament will not be meeting tomorrow so that MPs can attend the episcopal ordination of Fr Prospero Grech, who is to be ordained Malta’s second-ever Cardinal.
House business must be programmed better
The decision was taken during a meeting of the House Business Committee yesterday. The House will today start debating amendments to the European Union (Amendment) Bill, possibly winding it up on Monday.
Opposition Whip Joe Mizzi insisted on a date for the debate on the motion on the Justice Ministry, tabled by opposition MPs Josè Herrera and Michael Falzon, but Leader of the House Carm Mifsud Bonnici said he was not in a position to give a date yet.
Mr Mizzi said House business must be programmed better.
Just after question time and the laying of papers, Speaker Michael Frendo announced the appointment of Ray Scicluna as the new Clerk of the House with effect from February 1.
He replaces Pauline Abela, who will stay on working in Parliament.
