Italian champions Milan have confirmed that centre-back Alessandro Nesta will be out for four weeks due to a thigh injury.

Nesta was forced to limp out during the second half of Milan’s 3-2 defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Nesta underwent tests at Milanello and could return to action in the new year.

“Nesta has a muscle tear in his right thigh,” the Italian club said, adding that such an injury normally takes one month to rehabilitate without complications.
