There are two traffic lights at pedestrian crossings along Tower Road, Sliema, which are causing unnecessary traffic jams. I am referring to the lights near the Preluna Hotel and the other at the end of Tower Road corner with Old College Street, Sliema.

These are not needed, certainly not 24/7. After all there are no traffic lights at the Strand and beginning of Tower Road c/w The Strand and at Tower Road c/w Bisazza Street and yet pedestrians are crossing all the time. Most drivers do stop for pedestrians to cross the street.

So why not do away with these lights? If anything, put them on amber as those on Rue D’Argens in Msida. Traffic would flow better.
