The recent rise in the number of operations has amplified the need for blood donations. While thanking blood donors who have in the past year saved people’s lives, Health Minister Joe Cassar last week urged others to follow suit. Medical treatment that was unavailable in the past but is now being offered in Malta has also increased the need for blood. Last year, blood donations increased by nearly 1,900 over the 15,096 in 2010.
