A man was jailed for two years after admitting to four counts of theft in a month.

Wayne Camilleri, 21, of Tarxien, pleaded guilty to stealing necklaces from four women, aged between 71 and 77, in different villages in July.

He also admitted slightly injuring a 77-year-old woman and relapsing.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard that Mr Camilleri had a drug addiction problem and before jailing him, she offered some words of advice: “Take this as a warning: you are young and I don’t want to see you here again.”

The magistrate also issued a recommendation to the prison director to ensure Mr Camilleri follows a drug rehabilitation course.
