The Nationalist Party is claiming that the public broadcaster tried to neutralise a point raised by the Opposition during a press conference.

On Thursday, PN finance spokesman Tonio Fenech and employment spokesman Stephen Spiteri called on the government to increase the 58c weekly COLA raise it was proposing for next year.

The PN said it was not satisfied with the manner in which the press conference was reported in the TVM evening news and voiced its objections in a letter sent to the head of news, Reno Bugeja. It said TVM got a reaction, on camera, from Prime Minister Joseph Muscat that was aired even before the press conference was reported.

What happened during the press conference was then reported by the newscaster, the PN complained, demanding a remedy that could include an interview with its two spokesmen.
