The Maltese national team is currently in Lithuania to play in the EuroHockey Nations Championship IV tournament.

The team, under the guidance of Dutch coach Pieter Bregman, have been training together for the last six months in preparation for the competition in Vilnius.

It has been 10 years since the Maltese team has taken part in an international event of this calibre.

Only two players are still part of the squad from the 2005 Nations Championship which was played in Malta – captain Mark Camilleri and keeper Ramon Chircop.

Seven other countries are taking part in the Nations Cup – Lithuania, Denmark, Cyprus, Finland, Norway, Slovakia and Hungary.

In their opening game yesterday, Malta lost to hosts Lithuania 4-2.

Malta’s goals were scored by John Williams and Juan Sarcia.
