The first stone of the new Nadur cemetery chapel was recently blessed by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech. Work on the chapel started on February 11.

Attending the ceremony were Nadur archpriest Mgr Jimmy Xerri and former archpriest Mgr Saviour Muscat, Nadur mayor Charles Said, the project’s architect Edward Scerri and parishioners.

The cemetery will be ready shortly and around 600 trees will be planted in the coming days to embellish the area.

Mgr Xerri said that although the project will cost the parish quite a large sum, the desire for parishioners to have a decent burial place was a long-felt need.
