I am in complete disagreement with Joe Izzo’s disparagement of Classic FM (April 16).

Of course, we enjoy Silvio Camilleri and George Peresso but music isn’t just baroque.

Classic FM’s six-and-a-half hours of transmissions provide part of the breadth of presentation light classical music should consist of: John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Philip Glass and so on, besides the usual repertoire.

I have also found it a useful tool for some introductory work for children stuck in yet another traffic jam. The sorcerer’s apprentice or The carnival of the animals take on a different meaning to them when spelt out.

Time enough to study and appreciate the obscure Maltese composers.
