Sistina Art is moving to new premises which will be located at 8, Amery Street, Sliema, next door to Scotts supermarket and close to Stella Maris Church.

Covering 200 square metres, the new Sistina premises will be supported by interconnected adjacent stores to provide what is probably the widest range of art materials in Malta. Sistina will also be offering a wider range of stocks to cater for gilders’ requirements and also articles used by restoration artists.

Sistina Art was established in 1985 and first started operating from a small shop on the Gzira seafront. In many ways Sistina was a market maker in the local art trade. Louise La Rosa, the shop manager and director, says that the rationale behind the move is simple – to follow the market which is gradually moving to Sliema. Besides, the Gzira area has developed into a busy restaurant scene, with eateries, coffee shops and take-aways making parking very difficult. To address this problem, Sistina will be providing parking space opposite the new shop specifically reserved for Sistina customers.

An added bonus is the nearby Scotts supermarket which provides parking facilities for its own customers – thus shoppers can combine their requirements from the same location.

This part of Amery Street is fast becoming a small shopping centre. Close by there is a framing business, a pharmacy, the Cabouxon gift shop, an ironmongery, confectioneries, a painting gallery and stationeries.

The move to Sliema will be completed before the end of this month. Sistina will continue to stock all sizes of stretched canvas and canvas rolls in different textures and lining, which is sold by the metre. Sistina also stocks 100 per cent cotton paper in different sizes of sheets, blocks and pads. All materials are made in Germany and Italy and imported direct by Sistina.
