Parts of Mosta were without electricity for more than 20 hours yesterday after technical complications arose with one of Enemalta’s high tension cables.

Lights went out in the area a few minutes after 8.30pm on Friday with the service first expected to return to normal by noon yesterday.

However, Enemalta then reported that due to unforeseen difficulties, the service would be resumed after 7pm yesterday evening.

The affected areas included Burmarrad, Salina, parts of Mosta and San Pawl tat-Targa.

Normal service was resumed in many of the areas as early as 10 am, but residents who contacted The Sunday Times of Malta complained of a sleepless night without fans and air conditioning as well as spoiling of food.
