Air Malta is to increase flights between Malta and Djerba starting from next week.

The airline will operate three weekly flights to/from the Tunisian city every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, starting from Tuesday.

Deputy chief commercial officer Joe Galea said the airline took the decision following an increase in demand since it re-started air services to Tunisia last month.

“The increase in frequency to Djerba is an another important step in our efforts to continue assisting and facilitating travel between both countries following the increased passenger demand from this airport due to the situation in Libya,” Mr Galea said.

The Libya route, known to be a profitable one for Air Malta, has been suspended because of the unrest in the north African country.
