More than 140 delegates, mostly non-Maltese travelling from as far as Asia and Canada, have confirmed their participation at the annual Malta IGaming Seminar which will be held at the Hilton, St Julian’s, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This year’s edition will see 20 international speakers from different jurisdictions and professional backgrounds who will share market, regulatory, technology and tax insight. Proceedings will be opened by Finance Minister Tonio Fenech and Lotteries and Gaming Authority chief executive Reuben Portanier.

“Remax Malta and the other founding partners BMIT, Greentube, and Capstone Group developed the Malta iGaming Seminar to create a fact-finding platform for international operators or service providers thinking about setting up their business in Malta,” Jeff Buttigieg, regional director of Remax told The Sunday Times.

“It also serves as the perfect opportunity for the local gaming industry to come together and share best practices and experiences. Having established MIGS as a yearly event over the last four years, we felt that to attract a larger audience it was time to change our focus from predominately Malta-based topics to a mix of both internationally and local-based issues. We linked up with Karen Cook from Swan Events who has done an excellent job in putting the programme together. We will be looking at the ever-changing European gaming landscape, why Malta is a great jurisdiction, tax options in Europe, cloud based on-line gaming, lessons learnt within the Malta jurisdiction, and the future of gaming.”

Mr Buttigieg said the event has been heavily marketed overseas through numerous advertising networks, including media partners iGaming Business and media supporters CalvinAyre.com, G3 Magazine and Gioco News. Mailers were dispatched through founding partner networks Greentube, BMIT, Capstone Group and Remax and considerable support came through Swan Events’ international network. MIGS also won exposure in numerous international trade magazines and gaming news portals.

The organisers say MIGS is useful to anyone involved in the gaming industry because the issues under the spotlight are relevant to Maltese or non-Maltese operators or service providers. It provides a valuable networking opportunity for industry leaders and pioneers.

The founding partners are proud of MIGS’ track record for helping to reignite business relationships, fostering employer-candidate relationships, or creating the appropriate environment for generating leads. These are some of the reasons, the organisers point out, a few international participants are travelling to attend for a second and even the third time.

“The carefully chosen seminar topics are aimed to provide the delegates the promised update on the jurisdiction,” Mr Buttigieg explained.

“The comprehensive list of exhibitors, sponsors and the founding partners cover a full range of services including cloud hosting, gaming software, accommodation and office costs, licensing, tax consultation, business intelligence and customer relationship management software, and payment gateways.”
