Accessibility in 26 towns and villages will be improved under a government allocation of €200,000 for local council initiatives in this cause.

This is the second scheme of the sort, following 14 similar projects carried out in 2009. During that year, only one third of the local council administrative offices were accessible for all. This number has doubled over the past two years.

Among other projects in the new scheme, rails will fixed along Old Theatre Street in Valletta and a ramp installed at the World War II shelters in Mellieħa.
