More than 28,800 Maltese went abroad for a holiday in June, a 10 per cent increase over the same month last year, according to statistics.
Around 25,500 visits were to EU countries, the National Statistics Office said.
Italy and the UK remained the two top destinations, taking up 56 per cent of total trips. All major European markets recorded increases compared with last year.
Between January and June, the number of trips rose by 11 per cent, totalling 149,848 compared to the same period in 2012. An estimated 87 per cent chose EU destinations.
