Malta attracted more travellers from France last month when compared to the same period last year, according to Malta International Airport.

The French market, in fact, registered the highest growth among all source markets, up 19.4 per cent for a total of 30,501 passengers, becoming the fourth largest.

The growth was attributed to an increase in traffic from Paris airports and a direct result of the recently-introduced route to the western French city of Nantes, MIA said.

The largest markets remained the UK (119,318 passengers), Italy (73,280) and Germany (53,618).

In June, passenger movements grew by three per cent, to 424,329, when compared to June 2013, bringing the total since January to 1.8 million, up 7.7 per cent when compared to the same period last year.
