Young goalkeeper Lydon Moore (picture, right) has been invited to play for Mathlock Town FC in an international tournament in England this week – the Blackpool Cup.

Moore, who played for Malta U-17 last year, has been attending the Mario Muscat Goalkeeper School for the past eight years. He plays for Ħamrun Spartans in the Maltese youth league.

He was offered the opportunity to play for Mathlock Town following the initiative of Stepover Agency directors Jason Vella and Shaun Ridings.

They have very good relations with the Derbyshire club, currently playing in the Northern Premier League top division.

The tournament in Blackpool, with teams from 11 different nationalities taking part, starts on Friday and comes to a close on Monday.

The Blackpool Cup is rated very highly in the UK and in 2015 was the top rated tournament out of nearly 100 international competitions operated by Euro-Sportring.

This could also be a great opportunity for Moore as scouts from around the country will be monitoring promising players during competition.
