Talenti Theatrical Company is putting up Sawl, a monologue about St Paul’s turbulent life. The monologue will be interpreted by Mario Micallef, who will be depicting the truth behind the life of the ‘Apostle of Nations’. This detailed and original monologue has been written by Alfred Palma and will be directed by Żep Camilleri.

From Saul to Paul, from paganism to Christianity, from a violent man obstinately set on destroying Christ’s teachings to an adherent and Apostle of the same Christ, Paul was an apostle who followed his mission far beyond the other apostles. What was his character, his sense of rebellion in the face of controversies? What was behind his obsession to fight Christ and his new teachings?

And why did Saul/Paul, after his dramatic conversion to the Christianity he once hated and fought so much against, eventually became the apostle who not only preached the teachings of Christ but actually refined it?

What caused the heated clashes between Paul and some of Christ’s disciples, particularly with Simon Peter? Talenti Theatrical Company will tray to answer these questions. The production runs on Saturday and next Sunday, January 31 and February 1 at 8pm at St James Cavalier, Valletta.
