May I congratulate Martin Scicluna on his excellent article ‘Corrosive corruption’ (March 5) and how corruption has become part of Malta’s way of life.
One practice he does not mention is the appointments being made among Joseph Muscat’s followers of so-called ‘consultants’ earning massive salaries.
Surely the majority of these ‘consultancies’ are not necessary at a time when our president-designate, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, has been speaking about the number of Maltese who are below the poverty level.
These ‘consultants’, who are massively overpaid and are not a necessity but a burden on taxpayers, should be removed and the money paid to them passed on to those Maltese people living below the poverty level.
Also as former servicemen – both he and I – it would be interesting to have Scicluna’s views on the rapid promotions made recently in the AFM. After all, there exists a committee under the chairmanship of an ex-AFM commander which has yet to make its report public.
Perhaps Scicluna will beable to give us his views on these matters too.
