Valletta-born sculptor Ġanni Pace is currently working on the bust of John Mizzi, former news editor of Times of Malta and The Sunday Times of Malta.

The bust of Mr Mizzi, who is most fondly remembered as a group Scout leader of the St Aloysius College Group, will be placed in the college’s yard leading to the premises where the College group meets.

The clay bust, commissioned by former Scouts of the college, will be cast in bronze at the Fonderia Artistica of Luqa in the coming days, to be inaugurated in two months’ time.

Meanwhile, the bust of former Labour MP Robert Naudi, also by Pace, will be inaugurated in Msida during Msida Week next month.

The bust, commissioned by the Msida Labour Party Club, residents and other organisations in the locality, will be placed in the public garden in front of the Msida parish church.

Dr Naudi was a family doctor and a great philanthropist who always tried to lead by example.

Pace, a former Bank of Valletta employee, started from scratch, climbing up the rungs gradually but steadily, surpassing the hurdles that came in his way over the years. Now aged 66, he is considered to be one of Malta’s leading sculptors.

Pace has over the years been commissioned to create art pieces for various entities and notable people. Only last year he created the monument in bronze to Star, the dog that had stirred the public’s emotions after being buried alive.

Pace, who is an active member of the Legion of Mary, says teaching children with other members and visiting patients in hospitals for the past 37 years has had a great influence on his works.

Pace has taken part in various exhibitions, both locally and abroad, mainly with the support of Bank of Valletta. His last solo exhibition was at the Casino Maltese in Valletta.

Pace’s work can been seen at his permanent exhibition in his studio in Guardamangia. For more information call 7931 5509 or look up the Facebook page Ganni Pace Sculpture.
