In January The Times had published a letter of mine about the abandonment of secondary roads.

I had congratulated the authorities for improving the road network in Malta particularly some of our major arteries. But at the same time I had pointed a finger of scorn for the abandonment of secondary roads. I had complained about the horrendous state of the road which from St Agatha’s chapel in Żurrieq leads to Ħal Far. To my great dismay nothing has been done to improve this road which at times is quite busy.

I invite the competent authorities to visit this road particularly after a heavy rainfall like the one which hit Malta recently. I happened to be passing through and I saw a couple of tourists stranded. It was providential that I happened to be using this road at the time as I saved them from a very precarious situation. The road resembles a river with a strong current that reaps havoc on its way. It is shameful that nobody seems to care about this state of affairs.

I again appeal to the authorities to find a remedy. It is shameful to leave it in such a mediaeval state. I sincerely hope that my appeal does not fall on deaf ears once again.
