Miss Selfridge has launched its new collection for autumn/winter.

The collection is all about classic ladylike dressing, taking inspiration from the 1930s, 1940s and 1970s with a modern twist.

The injection of super bright colour palettes and structured minimalist tailoring gives the traditional ladylike silhouettes and detailing a contemporary feel.

Strong retro styling has been updated using clean finishes and sleek fabrics, with feminine touches such as bows and split sleeves giving a glamorous yet girly feel.

Flashes of 1950s screen sirens mixed with Hollywood glamour and a touch of grown-up Mad Men sophistication are apparent throughout the collection.

Classic mini dresses with long sleeves and flared skirts, create a demure yet fun shape.

Art deco detailing is evident across the collection, such as lace panelling in simple block colour dresses.

Pleated skirts and cropped peg leg trousers are paired with colour-clashing vintage-inspired blouses. Key colours are forest greens, Bordeaux reds and cognac browns.

Rose gold is the metallic shade of choice, the stand-out piece is the all-over sequin one-sleeve maxi dress with thigh high split.

Coats make a big statement, taking traditional styles such as the belted military, wool trench and the suede bomber, and updating them using bright colour pops and mixed faux-fur panelling.

Knitwear is glammed up using metallic shades of silver and rust. Another big casual statement is oversized chunky knit cardigans and jumpers in bold colours and mix and match prints.

The collection also features a vast selection of shoes, bags, hats and accessories to style up and complement each look.

Miss Selfridge’s new collection is available at The Plaza in Sliema, Savoy Arcades in Valletta and at Arkadia, Victoria.
