Home Affairs Ministry chief of staff, Silvio Scerri, yesterday filed a libel suit against television presenter John Bundy over comments he made on the termination of Norman Vella’s redeployment with PBS.

Mr Bundy made the comments when he spoke to Times of Malta saying he was present at the ministry when he heard Mr Scerri issue an order over the phone for Mr Vella to be redeployed.

Mr Vella testified before the Employment Commission on Wednesday that Mr Bundy told him he had heard Mr Scerri issue the order for him to be returned to his job at the Immigration Department.

Mr Bundy told this newspaper he knew who Mr Scerri was speaking to on the phone when he gave the order but did not wish to name the person.

Mr Scerri strongly denies the allegations. Through his lawyer, Edward Gatt, Mr Scerri is insisting that Mr Bundy made false claims about him.

Mr Bundy says that what he said was “the truth and nothing but the truth”.
