The Prime Minister said yesterday that Cabinet members would be declaring their assets to Parliament as they were bound to by their code of ethics.

Joseph Muscat told Leader of the Opposition Simon Busuttil, in answer to a question in Parliament, that this would be contrary to what happened in the past when the ministers’ declarations of assets for 2001, 2005 and 2007 were not presented to the House.

The declarations for 1994, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009 and 2012 were presented in the second half of the year despite the fact that the ministers’ code of ethics obliged them to present them to the secretary of the Cabinet within two months of their appointment and not later than March of each year.

Answering another question by Dr Busuttil, the Prime Minister denied that he had given himself a waiver from presenting his declaration of assets to the Cabinet secretary.
