In my contribution titled ‘Pensioners and the minimum wage’ (February 1), I stated that the minimum wage has been increased only by €1.75 a week in line with COLA.

My attention was drawn by the director general at the Social Security Department to the fact that the minimum wage was increased further by €1 per week. Therefore, the total increase for this year is €2.75 a week.

In the circumstances, the basic rate of the national minimum wage as from January 1, 2018 is €172.51 and not €171.51 a week, as reported in my contribution.
