Michaela Millo has managed to make the cut to national records ranks when she set a new limit of 2:47.58 for the 200 metres breaststroke during Saturday’s ASA time trial meet.

She bettered the previous mark of 2:47.75 held by Francesca Paolella since March 2004.

The improving Millo has thus been rewarded for her consistency in these last few years.

Meanwhile, Amy Micallef has broken new ground in the ‘C’ Category of the 50 metres freestyle, this time registering 28.81, two hundredths of a second faster than Nicola Muscat’s record set in December 2008.

Micallef now holds a handsome 11 records, seven in the ‘B’ and four in the ‘C’ groups.

Another swimmer who rarely fails to make record-breaking headlines is Neil Muscat.

On Saturday, he took up his tally of category records to an impressive 20 when he erased the name of Mark Sammut in Group ‘C’.

He clocked 1:04.48 in the 100 metres backstroke, an improvement of 0.75 seconds.
