A number of immigrants detained at the Safi centre were arrested yesterday morning after causing damage to the ground floor of one of their blocks on Friday night, the Home Affairs Ministry said.

No one was injured during the incidents, which involved around 90 immigrants. It is understood that the protest was over food.

Following searches carried out in the dormitories of those involved, a number of dangerous items, including iron rods, were confiscated. Some mobile phones were also taken away.
