Former prime minister Karmenu Mifsud Bonnici has been re-admitted to Mater Dei Hospital after being released following a recent stay lasting more than a month.

Feeling some pain, the 80-year-old former Labour leader was advised to check into hospital as a precautionary measure because of recent surgery.

Dr Mifsud Bonnici was last admitted on February 28 for a planned medical intervention and was placed in intensive care after complications.

He had a total of three surgeries during his time in hospital, sources said.
