Alfredo Muñoz Perez, president and chief executive officer of Middlesea Insurance, has been appointed president of the Maltese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce.

The Maltese-Spanish Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organisation whose aim is to promote and assist the development of business investment and other commercial relations between Malta and Spain.

This is done through various events such as conferences, seminars and presentations, through its network with other bilateral Spanish chambers of commerce.

The chamber contributes to a greater understanding of the economic environment in both Malta and Spain and facilitates entry into specific markets that members have identified as part of their strategic plans.

Trade and commerce relations between Malta and Spain go back to before the time of the Knights of St John.

Mr Muñoz Perez is a graduate in law and economics from the Comillas University of Madrid and also holds a Masters degree in taxation. He has extensive experience in insurance and has been a member of the management of the Mapfre Group for the last 13 years.

Middlesea Insurance plc is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on both long term and general business under the Insurance Business Act, 1998.
