A long-standing category record which goes back to May 1997 was broken at Saturday’s time trials.

The new record holder is Amy Micallef who has been outstanding over the last years.

The Neptunes girl swam the 200m backstroke in 2 minutes 32.70 seconds to beat the previous Group ‘C’ mark held by Christine Cachia by 1.44 seconds.

During the same ASA meet, Sarah Demicoli improved the previous 200m fly ‘B’ record established last June. The new mark is 2 minutes 51.25 seconds.
