The government’s focus on smart meters is on their activation, rather than just the installation, Energy Minister Konrad Mizzi told Opposition MP George Pullicino in reply to a parliamentary question.

Dr Mizzi said that up to March 2014 this year Enemalta Corporation had installed 241,956 smart meters, leaving 41,720 still to be installed.

As for meters installed at boreholes, installation figures stood at 1,218, also in March.
