The medicine Mesalazine (400mg) will be available to the public later this week, the Health Ministry has announced.

Mesalazine is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat inflammation of the digestive tract, ulcerative colitis and mild to moderate Crohn’s disease.

A delay in the shipment of the medicine was caused by a packaging problem on the part of the manufacturer, the ministry said.

The medicine will be available as part of the Pharmacy of Your Choice scheme, as well as from the pharmacy at Mater Dei hospital.
