Apparently a rule exists that in village cores and other designated areas, apertures of buildings have to be made out of wood; no other material is accepted.

It makes one wonder how realistic this rule is when some of these wooden apertures are in such a bad state that they make buildings look shabby.

Surely, to enhance village cores the rule should be that apertures can be replaced with other materials that also blend in?

Those who make such rules ought to be trained as to how to embellish a country before they being allowed to pass such dogmatic regulations.
