Guess what? This one-metre deep manhole in the vicinity of St Thomas Tower in Marsascala has been like this for months, posing a continuous threat to the public especially during the night for it is hardly visible.

I hate to think the kind of injury this could inflict if one happens to fall in it. Finally after a mammoth of complaints reached Enemalta, the people responsible for this dead trap, not to mention the Marsascala local council, sprayed a green florescent paint probably indicating that repair is under way.

The concrete slabs covering this manhole broke to pieces. What’s intriguing is that neither the council nor Enemalta felt the need to cover this hole temporarily or bothered to put indicators until it is repaired.

If this is not negligence I do not know what is.
