The rubberbodies collective will present their new work Lore of the Sea – Immemorial Waters at the Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa, starting Friday.

The work builds on the collective’s previous performance entitled White Sea. While creating White Sea, the collective lunged into the world of maritime heritage and met Liam Gauci, the curator of the Malta Maritime Museum.

The collective was inspired by Gauci’s passion for Maltese maritime heritage, who is continuously recounting stories and facts connected to our culture and nation.

The rubberbodies collective will be taking the audience through their travels researching the maritime history of Malta.

Lore of the Sea – Immemorial Waters is a drop into the contemporary seas of visual-performance and the memories stored in a museum, merging together to create a unique experience of history, art and creativity.

This project is a collaboration between rubberbodies collective and Heritage Malta at the Maritime Museum; a project which brings history closer to art.

The event will start at 8 p.m. with a 45-minute specialised tour of part of the collection of the Maritime Museum by Gauci, including artefacts from the museum’s reserve, which will be exclusively on display for this project. The tour is linked to the performance as it will focus on memories, stories, myths and facts which the collective is using as a base for the visual-performance.

The audience will then be guided to St Angelo Hall where the rubberbodies collective will take visitors into the world of maritime through the evocative imagery of their performance.

After the event, visitors are invited to enjoy a glass of wine in the balcony of the museum and meet the collective and the curator while enjoying a view of the harbour.

Tickets are being sold at €12 and €10 for Heritage Malta members, and are available from all Heritage Malta sites.

There is limited seating of 50 people per night. Perfor-mance dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
