One of the figures in the memorial statue to three Maltese actors in Bisazza Street, Sliema, was found smashed yesterday morning.

The figures show Ġemma Portelli, Charles Clews and Victor Apap sitting around a table, with a fourth vacant chair.

Victor Apap’s figure was broken at the waist and leaning forward.

The police are to study CCTV footage to establish whether it was a case of vandalism.

The memorial is made of ceramic glass and sustained other damage over the years. The head of Victor Apap’s figure was smashed in June 2011 and the figure of Charles Clews suffered the same fate earlier in the year.
