The launch of the Pro Patria EP in 2010 quickly established Memento Nostri as one of the more unique bands our local music scene has produced.
Born from a passion for musical diversity as well as a love of the culture that permeates our island nation, Memento Nostri is a project with a difference. Inspired by Malta’s rich historical heritage, spanning millennia and peppered as it is with myths and legends, the band seeks to weave all these elements into a cohesive musical representation that marries symphonic euphonies with a visual element that lends added weight to the listeners’ overall experience.
Focusing on the Great Siege of Malta as the crux of its primary project, Memento Nostri’s work is written as a chronological retelling of the historical event, the scenes perceived and the story retold through the voices of its protagonists: knights and Turks, peasants and men-at-arms, Christians and Muslims.
All play an important role in creating a blend of symphonic metal lavish in classic and oriental melodies, inspired by war hymns, battle cries, marching beats and everything in between that is related to the clash between the Cross and the Crescent Moon that happened on our island in the greatest battle of the 16th century.
Currently working on its debut album, the band is looking for a bassist to join its ranks.
