The situation in the House of Representatives is an unfortunate one in that, although all are agreed that the Divorce Bill should go through to be in line with the will of the majority as expressed in the referendum of May 28, MPs also have a right to their opinions, whether conscience-driven or not. If no call for a division is made the Bill would be passed without the need of taking a vote, saving blushes on both sides of the House.
An iota of pragmatism may as yet save the day.
